Description
Network Security & Firewall Management is a written, self-paced course in six modules. You cover TCP/IP security and network threat modelling; firewall rules, ACLs and DMZ design; IDS/IPS concepts and tuning with tools such as Snort and Suricata; VPN technologies including IPsec, SSL/TLS VPNs and WireGuard; network segmentation and VLAN security; and security monitoring with SIEM tools.
It is a conceptual and practical introduction, not hands-on lab training on your employer's systems and not a vendor or industry certification. It does not promise a job or salary outcome. Only practise these techniques on networks and equipment you own or are explicitly authorised to test.
What you will be able to do
- Map the main threats to each layer of a TCP/IP network
- Write and review firewall rules and ACLs using a default-deny approach
- Explain how IDS and IPS tools detect suspicious traffic and how to reduce false positives
- Compare IPsec, SSL/TLS VPNs and WireGuard for different use cases
- Plan network segmentation and basic SIEM monitoring for a small organisation
Educational content only. No income, revenue or earnings results are promised or implied. This course does not award a certification, licence or professional credential.
